About Tony
Tony has been involved in the information technology and information security fields for more than 25 years.
His extensive list of information security related credentials include:

2. CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional)
3. CIPP/E (Certified Information Privacy Professional / Europe)
4. CRISC (Certified in Risk and Information Systems Controls)
5. CISM (Certified Information Security Manager)
6. ISO/IEC 27001 Senior Lead Auditor
Tony is a Senior Member of the Australian Computer Society (ACS) and an ACS Certified Professional (CP) in Cyber Security.
Tony is also a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia (FGIA).
Tony has an accomplished business, technical and engineering background having completed a Bachelor of Science in Computing Science from the University of Technology, Sydney, the Global Executive MBA from the University of Sydney which included study at Stanford University, The London School of Economics and the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. Tony has also completed a Juris Doctor degree at the University of New South Wales.
Tony currently serves in a number of capacities:
- Tony is the Managing Partner and Founder at Novera, a digital risk management advisory specialising in cybersecurity, AI and privacy risk management.
- Tony is a Cyber Security Ambassador for the NSW Government through the NSW Cyber Security Node
- Tony is a member of the Cyber Professionalisation Working Group convened by AustCyber and under the support and participation of the Federal Department of Industry, Sciences and Resources (DISR), the Department of Home Affairs (DHA), the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) and the Department of Education, Skills and Employment (DESE).
- Tony is a member of the Cybersecurity Committee for the Australian Bar Association, the peak body for Australian barristers.
Tony’s prior appointments have included:
- Partner heading up the national Cybersecurity advisory practice at KordaMentha, a mid-tier professional services firm.
- Director of the Board for the Australian Information Security Association (AISA) from 2022 to 2022. AISA is a not-for-profit association of over 10,000 Australian cyber security professionals, students and enthusiasts. Tony has been and continues to be a long standing, active and contributing member of AISA.
- Director of Advocacy at ISC2 from 2018 to 2022. ISC2 is the world’s largest association of over 170,000 certified cyber security professionals. In this capacity, Tony delivered cyber security advocacy, thought leadership and policy development across North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
- Tony was the co-chair of the ISC2 Asia-Pacific Advisory Council from 2018 to 2021.
- Tony was a member of the NSW Government’s Industry Advisory Committee for Cybersecurity from 2018 to 2020.
- Tony was a member of the Technology and Business Services Industry Skills Reference Group at TAFE NSW from 2019 to 2021.
- Tony was a member of the Data Security Standards Committee for Blockchain Australia, helping to develop the Data Security Standards for Cryptocurrency Exchanges in 2019.
Tony has and continues to provide expert services to the Australian Government’s Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), the Law Society of NSW, the Australian Security Industry Association Limited (ASIAL), the NSW Department of Education as well as numerous boards. Tony is an expert speaker on information security regularly speaking across the region on information security matters. He has also taught and mentored young and aspiring information security students through Victoria University and TAFE New South Wales in association with Infoxchange.
In addition, Tony is a contributor to the Harvard Business Review, CSO Magazine, CIO Magazine, Security Insider Magazine, Infosecurity Professional Magazine, Australian Cyber Security Magazine, Australian Reseller News (ARN), Channel Reseller News (CRN) and Lifehacker regarding information security, business and channel strategy.
